Working Girl
Harrison Ford takes a break from his action/dramatic roles to star in this hilarious romantic comedy of a secretary struggling to make her way to the top. I think one of the reasons that I like this movie so much is how I identify with Tess McGill (Melanie Griffith). |

Sabrina
Another offbeat Harrison Ford film, with Harrison playing a hard-working millionaire, finally smitten by the charms of Sabrina, the Chauffeurs Daughter. The ending is contrived (the Harrison character would *never* do that) but it makes for a good movie. |
 |
Sister Act
The plot is definitely not the strongest suite of this film, but the scenes with Whoopi Goldberg molding the choir of sisters into a formidable, trendy choir are more than worth it. An exceptionally well-crafted film. |

Liar Liar
It was only after viewing "The Truman Show" that I sought out and viewed this movie, also starring Jim Carrey. Bottom line, it was just hilarious! Well, the ending was contrived, but the outtakes shown during the final credits more than made up for the saccharine ending. |

The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming
A startlingly young Alan Arkin stars in this great comedy as the Executive Officer of a Russian submarine that inadvertently goes aground on a touristy type island in New England. The mayhem then ensues, when Whitaker, Walt (an also very-young Carl Reiner) tries to straighten everything out. |

Slap Shot
Another older movie, but one that certainly stands up to the test of time. Paul Newman stars as the coach of a decrepit hockey team, whose only point of existence is to serve as a tax-writeoff, to its owner. If I had a favorite sport it would probably be hockey and this is just a great, fun film. |

Fast Times at Ridgemont High
This movie which must date from the early '80's is a great, although somewhat dated, look at teen life in the latter 20th century. |
